The
battle between Terry McGuinness and Damian Wayne continues, resurrecting the
old feud between Batman and Ra’s al Ghul. But Terry is in greater danger than
he realizes. His bat-suit’s A.I. is in danger of corrupting him completely, and
that could doom him and Damian both.
My only
criticism of this particular issue is a story element that – at this time –
seems unnecessary. Perhaps it’s intended to pad the story out, or maybe it will
have ramifications down the road. Time will tell.
One thing
I’ve said before about Dan Jurgens’ stories is he is not one to repeat himself.
He’s taken the Batman Beyond stories
in multiple directions, rather than repeat the same scenario with different
players. I appreciate that about his writing, which keeps the book from getting
stale.
I appreciate
Bernard Chang’s artwork, perhaps in part because it reminds me Howard Chaykin.
Chaykin has a distinctive style, which Chang seems to have taken and refined. I
see this mostly in terms of layout than in actual rendering, though it does
appear there’s a bit of a swipe once in a while.
