This issue, readers learn the secret origin of Menace,
Harry Osborne’s new girlfriend and soon to be fiancée. What evil plans does
Menace have for Spider-man and Harry? Will anyone be able to stop her?
I don’t mind Barry Kitson’s work at all, but I have to
admit that it broke the flow with the John Romita Jr. illustrations from last
issue. As this is a single storyline, it’s not fun to see a change of artist. It’s
amazing how Harry Osborne can be so ugly and yet, so lucky with the girls! I do
have to ask a question about this silly haircut that both he and his father
sport. I’ve never seen someone in real life with something so hideous. Would
people even wear such things in 2009?
This issue should be a treat for readers that have
carefully read all issues of this series for the last year. A lot of hints were
given as to the identity of Menace and those readers will feel vindicated. For
the rest of us, it will be no more than another reveal issue where the bad villain
tells her complicated backstory instead of eliminating the hero while the going
is good. I’m not sure if I’ll be interested in reading more about Menace when
the story ends.
