Starfire is dying in space, next to Adam Strange as their spaceship is about to hit a sun. Wonder Woman makes a guess appearance at last infusing some peace and counselling in Renée Montoya. Elsewhere, Ralph Dibny is collecting more magical artifacts for Doctor Fate while breaking the law. In the midst of all of this, can the Green Lantern Corp. save the day?
Reading 52 is so boring, that I did not pick up on the Wonder Woman appearance until my second read. Many clues were introduced, including on the cover. This shows that 52 is really a series that can only be read by hardcore DC Comics readers as too much material requires a PhD in DC Comics’ history. As for Renée Montoya, we all know she will become the new Question. Can we get over the soul searching yet?
Camuncoli’s work doesn’t look as good here as it has in other series. All the crispness of his lines is gone. His work requires solid inks not thin lines. Benitez’s two page origin of Starfire looks wild but interesting.
