The Hollywood Reporter to Honor Jodie Foster with the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award

Honor to be Given at the 16th Annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast Presented by Lifetime Networks

The Hollywood Reporter announced that Academy Award®-winning actress Jodie Foster will receive the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at its 16th annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast, which will take place Tuesday, December 4 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. This special award is presented to a woman who has been a pioneer or leader in her field in the entertainment industry. Past recipients have included Barbara Walters and Meryl Streep.

The annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast, presented by Lifetime Networks and in association with St. John Knits, is held each year in conjunction with the much-anticipated publication of The Reporter’s annual “Power 100: Women in Entertainment” special issue, which profiles the most influential women in the entertainment industry.

"Jodie Foster is a multi-nominated and award-winning actress, a director and a television and film producer who continues to be at the top of her game," said John Kilcullen, publisher of The Hollywood Reporter. "Throughout her successful career, from a child actor to a highly-influential actress, director and producer, Jodie has consistently maintained a sensibility and quality that is not easily sustained in this industry. She clearly embodies the qualities of excellence and achievement that this award was created to honor."

Foster began her career at an early age, appearing in commercials and in a number of television series including “Mayberry RFD,” “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father,” “My Three Sons,” and “Paper Moon.” It was her roles in the films Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore and Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver that first won her critical praise and international attention. Other films to her credit include The Accused and Silence of the Lambs, for both of which she earned Best Actress Oscars, Flightplan, Panic Room, Nell (earned Best Actress Oscar nomination), Anna and the King, Sommersby, and Bugsy Malone.

Over the course of her career, Foster has appeared in nearly 40 films and received numerous nominations and accolades, including two Best Actress Oscars, two Golden Globe Awards, a Peabody Award, three British Academy Awards and multiple critic’s awards from the New York Film Critics, the Chicago Film Critics, the Los Angeles Film Critics and the National Society of Film Critics.
