Outsiders # 7

In this issue, we finally learn that the Metamorpho who has been appearing in this book for the past six issus, is in fact, merely a "clone" of the original Metamorpho. The real thing wants to absorb the new guy back into himself, even if the being has developed a mind and personality of his own.

This sets the stage for a conflict with the Outsiders who have embraced the new Metamorpho as a friend and team-mate. There is the brief hero vs. hero thing but there is also some well-written dialogue between Rex Mason and the Outsiders on the fate of this clone. Winick does rely a little too much on mild obscenities to give his dialogue color and impact but he also each of these fictional characters speak in their own believable voice.

Raney and Hanna do a great job in this issue, which is quite a challenge since most of the action is contined to a few windowless rooms. No wide open spaces or exploding planes to make things interesting. As for the fate of the clone... well, let's just say that the old traditionalists will have one more reason to hate Judd Winick.
