KAPOW! Announces Platinum Sponsor

KAPOW! COMIC CON is extremely excited to announce UK’s largest video games and entertainment site IGN as the Platinum Sponsor for the event. IGN brings readers the latest news, expert reviews and exclusive previews and features from the world of gaming, film, TV and comics.

KAPOW! and IGN UK are working together to create the ‘IGN Arena’, where top gaming studios and publishers will be giving attendees the chance to try out the latest games and exclusive first look’s at some of the biggest releases of 2011. Further IGN activity at KAPOW! will be revealed in coming weeks.

Mark Millar, the ambassador for Kapow! and creator of the blockbuster movies Kick-Ass and Wanted, says, “IGN is a real hub for all gaming and entertainment fans, this is a brilliant brand match for Kapow! and a great opportunity for all attendees to try new games and exhibitors to promote their upcoming products to excited fans”

KAPOW! COMIC CON is bringing the San Diego Comicon experience to London. Taking place at the Business Design Centre in Islington on 9th and 10th April 2011, this event is dedicated to comic-books and the films, TV shows and games they inspire. Visitors will be amongst the first in the world to get an exclusive look at upcoming comics, movie blockbusters, hit TV shows and games from the biggest publishers and studios in the world. With panels and announcements from A-list names throughout the weekend KAPOW! is one event not to miss in 2011.

The event has attracted some big name talent, and an audience of enthusiasts who love entertainment. The comic guest list is unrivalled, and includes many creators who haven’t attended UK conventions in almost 20 years. Jonathan Ross, Frankie Boyle, Stewart Lee and Noel Clarke, who all contribute to UK news stand magazine CLiNT, will be taking part in panel discussions. John Romita Jr. (Kick-Ass), Dave Gibbons (Watchmen), Frank Quitely (Batman), Leinil Yu (Secret Invasion), Bryan Hitch (The Ultimates, The Authority) Mark Millar (Kick-Ass, Civil War) and many, many more will all be signing autographs, speaking on panels and giving exclusive previews of upcoming works. With the film and TV guest list being announced on 14 February 2011, this is a star-studded line up to reflect the excitement and the talent involved in the biggest year for comic book movies so far.

Additionally, KAPOW! will be holding various events including the first annual STAN LEE AWARDS, MOVIE X - a top secret screening of an upcoming superhero movie where nobody knows what they are watching until the opening credits roll, plus JONATHAN ROSS’ COMIC PROS VS. COMIC FANS GAMESHOW.
