Stan Lee commemorates his 65th year at Marvel with a series of one-shots
uniting him with his greatest characters. The first of these,
Stan Lee Meets Spider-Man, is due for release on September 27 and features an encounter between Stan and everybody's favorite wall-crawler.
The series features writing by Stan Lee and Josh Whedon and pencils by Oliver Coipel and Michael Gaydos.
The characters chosen and the title for each issue are: Stan Lee Meets Dr. Doom, Stan Lee Meets the Thing, Stan Lee Meets Dr. Strange, Stan Lee Meets Spider-Man and Stan Lee Meets the Silver Surfer. When it came to deciding which characters he should meet, Lee had a simple criteria. "I just tried to figure which would make the most offbeat and humorous subjects," Lee explained.
Stan Lee Meets Spider-Man also contains a classic Stan Lee-scripted story from
Amazing Spider-Man #87, in which Spider-Man reveals his identity to his closest friends.
