Batman Begins at Big Apple Con

The Big Apple Comic Book, Art, & Toy Show, NYC’s largest popular arts convention, returns this June 17-18th (Fr-Sat) with the greatest tribute to Batman in comics fandom! Batman creators spanning the decades, from every era: the 40’s beginning with Bob Kane, 50’s and 60’s camp, the Shadow of the Dark Knight 70’s, to current illustrators, will all assemble for Gotham City’s Biggest Batman Bash.

Artists scheduled to attend include:

Jerry Robinson : 1940’s creator of ROBIN and the JOKER and ghost artist for Bob Kane
Lew Sayre Schwartz - Bob Kane's personal "ghost" from mid-1947 to mid-1953 doing all of his contract work for DC.
Joe Giella - Giella penciled and inked 'Batman' for four years (1966), doing his best to imitate Bob Kane.
Carmine Infantino Godfather of the Silver Age. co-creator of BATGIRL, DEADMAN, POISON IVY, Black Canary, Animal Man, etc. and top BATMAN artist of the 60’s!
Neal Adams – Superstar Batman artist of the 1970’s, co-creator of Ra’s Al Ghoul
Dick Giordano – Top Batman artist, inker, and editor of the 1970’s
Marshall Rogers – Leading Baman artist of the late 70’s, Rogers helped reinvent the Batman character.
Steve Englehart - Lead writer and revamper of core Batman characters in the late 70’s. Englehart also wrote a solo Batman series (immediately dubbed the "definitive" version) that later became Warner Brothers' first Batman film.
Terry Austin - award-winning Batman inker, renowned for his legendary tenures embellishing Marshall Rogers lead scratchings on a series of DETECTIVE COMICS issues that comprised a very influential Batman story arc.
Joe Stanton – Batman Beyond, Batman Chronicles, Batman Gotham Adv. artist
Michal Lark – contemporary Gotham Central artist
Toby Cypress – contemporary Batman Nightwing and Gotham Knights Artist
Damion Scott – Batgirl and Robin artist
Dan Slott – contemporary writer of DC's Batman Adventures and Arkham Asylum Living Hell and more
Tommy Castillo - current artist giving Batman Detective Comics and Legends of the Dark Knight for DC Comics a bold new look

“There has never been a better Batman show, and its going to happen here at the Big Apple… the original Gotham City,” commented Mike Carbonaro, NYC Comic Book King and Comic-Con impresario. Carbonaro is personally donating over 8,000 Batman comics to be given away to every show attendee.

The Big Apple hosts a number of panels, workshops, and programs including: How to Draw for Comics with Michael Lark , How to Draw Superheroes with Guy Dorian, and Quick Draw Contests for aspiring artists. Both Days feature interviews with Batman creators through the ages along with interviews with today’s hottest artists and illustrators and authors including Brian K Vaughn and Tony Harris of Ex-Machina. Plus, Big Apple Events feature All-Day Gaming, All-Day Anime Theater with Central Park Media, Giveaways, and Costume Contest of Superhero Stature!

Miramax, Dreamworks and Lions Gate Studios will also be in attendance to support the opening of upcoming releases with free giveaways!

A NYC establishment, The Big Apple Con has over the last 10 years grown into the city’s largest and longest running comic book show with over 300 tables of comics and collectible merchandise, hosting 5 great shows a year!

Big Apple Conventions is devoted to creating awareness and appreciation of comics and related pop art forms through Conventions and events.

The Big Apple Comic Book, Art, and Toy Show is located at the Penn Plaza Pavilion, between 7th Ave. and 33rd St., across from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station in New York City.

The Penn Plaza Pavilion is easily accessible by train and Subway Lines: A, C, & E.

Admission is only $10! Kids 12 and under are Free!
