Plagued with organization problems in the past, due to the high popularity and attendance from the public, professionals and the press, the support team at the San Diego Comic-Con, the largest comic book-based convention in North America and one of the most popular and influential with related media arts, seems to have gotten its act together this year.

Like in 2007, the Comic-Con team did hire an external logistics company to help them with the security and crowd management. This year, the same outfit seems to have been hired, but there are more people on the ground and questions are quickly routed and answered. They seem to know what they are doing.

The improved logistics are good news for the Comic-Con, whose popularity was threatening its viability. A badly organized convention with a lot of people is less fun than a well organized machine. But next to opening night, there are the other days with more visitors than the few hours the convention was on on Wednesday night. The organization of the panels and how the crowds will be managed will be the better test of the Comic-Con’s improved structure.

Con in 2005
I went to the Comic Con in 2005 and I felt it was ran very well. I did go on preview night so there weren't as many people so maybe that's the reason.
