ComicBase FREE
The new ComicBase FREE allows comic fans to manage their collections with a built-in database that includes over 320,000 issues from the 1800s to the present day, listing virtually every English language comic ever published. All of this comes with current pricing supplied by Comics Buyer’s Guide, along with notes, cover dates, and other information. It also includes encyclopedic descriptions of almost 20,000 comic titles, as well as tens of thousands of searchable character appearance listings, origins, deaths, and more.

Users can enter a whole range of comics into the system with a single keystroke, and see the value computed instantly using the built-in price guide. The system provides a host of other tools for managing collections including issue checklists, price lists, price labels, and reports summarizing the values of their entire collection.

ComicBase FREE is integrated with Atomic Avenue, allowing users to browse comics, or post their comics for sale with a few clicks. The newly launched Atomic Avenue effectively gives any ComicBase user their own online comic store, and the combined inventories available for sale on the system already dwarf those of all of eBay’s auctions combined!

ComicBase FREE is limited to handling collections of up to 500 issues in size. If a collector reaches that limit, they can easily upgrade to ComicBase Express, Professional, or Archive Edition, starting at $49.95.

As one might expect from a program of this scope, ComicBase FREE is a fairly substantial download of 102 MB, available free from the ComicBase web site. It requires Windows 2000, XP, or Vista. 256 MB or system RAM is recommended, as is a Pentium III or later processor and at least 200 MB of disk space. It is also certified to run on the newer Intel Macintosh computers using either Parallels Desktop or Apple’s Boot Camp software.
