Here’s a short recap. Roy Harper, looking very tired stops a burglary and keeps some of the store owner’s money. He’s spotted by Green Arrow who alerts the rest of the League. Wally West (kidFlash), Black Canary, Guardian, Green Arrow and Nightwing. Back at the cave Superboy decides to go on a mission with Blue Beetle after spotting some weird activity headed for the Hall of Justice in Washington DC. Two Intergang villains want to steal the shell of the Appelaxian creatures that first landed on Earth 12 years ago, causing the creation of the Justice League. The shells of the Appelaxians have merged into one creature and are marching towards a nuclear station to destroy it.

Roy Harper feels crappy because after five years he still hasn’t found the real Speedy he was cloned from. The other red hair guy only announces towards the end of the episode that he’s Guardian and also a clone. There’s a moment where Black Canary challenges Roy the way she did way back in the comics when Speedy was on drugs. But here, there’s no hint that Speedy is a drug addict, just out of shape and a bit crazy. Again, I really like how Young Justice mixes comic book history with a dynamic new story taking the good stuff and making it work again. As a long time comic book reader, this is rewarding. Here, there's a hint that they are both brothers. Super groovy. One complaints that I have is that I felt there were too many people trying to help him out. I would have cut out a few of them such as Nightwing. Alos interesting is that in the comics Roy Harper and Guardian, also known as Jim Harper were somewhat related.
Now, the episode did not have a great fight/confrontation like the last one, so it felt less epic. However, we do find out more about Blue Beetle and where his armour came from. It turns out in the cartoon the first Blue Beetle Ted Kord built it but was killed by the Light. The most interesting revelation in this episode was that Wally West has retired from super heroics just like he did briefly a few times in comics but he is now married to Artemis. Now that’s crazy. I guess his lifelong love, Linda Park won’t be showing up too soon.

I’m hoping that somehow, the Flash dies in a mission and Wally has to take up his mantle in the Justice League as the new Flash. Maybe we’ll see that later down the line.
Rating: 8/10
