Bendis has hit his stride again on this book. Last issue (Carnage conclusion) was good, but this, this is back to the standout level. We really get back to the voice of the characters. Not to say they are stagnant though, as their evolution is clear. It's nice to see Peter's struggle with the death of Gwen and the commentary of the world he gives is all part of this. We also find out what Flash has been trying to ask Peter......or do we!?!
Bagley really adds the visual match to Bendis here. This story is all about emotion, tension, inner turmoil and Bagley taps into all of this so well. All you have to do is look at the eyes when everyone talks and that tells you so much. I think it would have been nice if the flashback scene had been in another cue of colour, but it still worked. And the cover really summed up the sentiment of the issue.
