In September 2006, comic book publisher Dark Horse, will release a series of Peanuts statuettes based on the popular characters created by Charles M. Schulz through its merchandising division, Dark Horse Deluxe. The first of the statuettes will feature Charlie Brown. Produced in a limited edition of hand-numbered copies, the figure is fully painted and ready to display. Lucy will be the second release, followed by Linus and the rest of the gang in a pattern of monthly releases.

The figures, designed in 3D mimic the rough look of vintage statues, also known as Syroco statues. Each hand-numbered statuette comes carefully packaged in a custom-tooled, full-color, litho-printed tin box. Also included is a small booklet about each character and a vintage-style pinback button of the character.

Peanuts-based products are always popular with fans. These figures also come at a time when publisher Fantagraphics is releasing a complete series of books reprinting the classic Peanuts comic strips beginning in 1950. These figures are aimed at syroco figure collectors and probably many of the Peanuts' fans that are usually not found within the comic book industry but outside. Hopefully, Dark Horse Deluxe's marketing arm will succeed in reaching those potential collectors, which are outside it's normal targets.
