Superman battles a Secret Society contingent of heat-based supervillains while Jimmy runs from a forest fire. This issue has some good dialogue, a nifty depiction of Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane and a Superman who thinks as well as acts. The art also has a nice anime/Jim Lee look to it especially in the depiction of technology, supervillains and hot-looking women. But this issue also has some drawbacks like Ma and Pa Kent suddenly looking like teenagers, the villains turning on each other at a crucial moment, Kon-El standing around while lives are at stake. There is also some shoddy pacing near the end. The story actually seems to slow down when the villains attack Superman. By the way, we all know Benes likes drawing beautiful women but does the Daily Planet dress code require its staff to wear such short skirts?
