The cover of this book deceives the onlooker. Yes, it is about a boy and his newly found robot, but there is, oh so, much more. You see, behind this cover with the famous sentinel we have learned to love (and hate) lays a high school drama, and a really good one.

Sean (Inhumans) McKeever has a gift that not many people have, he can make kids in comics sound like kids that you know. The conversations between Juston Seyfert and his crush, Jesse are genuine and rude friendship that he shares with his friend, Matt, seems very familiar, indeed. The way he Portrays Juston is marvellous: yes, Juston is a loser, but unlike many books, Juston has friends. McKeever makes you feel happy, sad, angry, heartbroken and breathless, and all that happens in one issue.

The art is another aspect that makes this book a success. Vriens and the rest of the art team give each kid their own style, from Juston's shabby looking clothes to Matt's punk attitude. Vriens and the rest give emotion to the characters. The colors, thanks to Hou, Yan, and Yeung, are vibrant and colorful, (and dark when they need to be). They actually make the sentinel look like metal.

Though SENTINEL doesn't have any super-powered foes, The book dives into the world of a kid whose world is changing around him, and readers of all ages can identify with what Juston is going thru . . . well, everything except the giant robot.
