The story and art are told with a patient simplicity that truly seems intended for kids who are just learning to read. The chickens, silly as they are, do seem menacing as the girls rarely run into opponents who so totally outclass them physically. Nonetheless, this is mainly a story for kids which adults will find only slightly amusing at best. Even the usually-entertaining Mojo Jojo appears to be reduced to playing a cute buffoon in this tale. This is a pity since the Powerpuff Girls cartoons, at their best, are entertaining to both kids and adults. This issue will be a thrill for the kids but adults will be left feeling that they read something similar to this in a "Superboy" comic back in 1963-- and it was a lot more fun then.
