The 30-second trailer was shown following "Kuragehime," an anime series on Fuji Television Network Inc.'s "noitaminA" midnight animation block.

The teaser, the first of a three-part trailer, showed an encounter between a boy named Clain and a mysterious girl called Phryne, who changes his life. It also featured spectacular accompanying music by composer Sohei Kano.

"Fractale" has attracted widespread attention for its exceptional creative staff. Yutaka Yamamoto, best known for "Lucky Star" and "Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens," is directing, while screenwriter Mari Okada ("Black Butler" and "Toradora!") will handle the overall story composition for the series, which is produced by anime studio A-1 Pictures Inc.

The original story is from writer and critic Hiroki Azuma.

With such a talented lineup, "Fractale" is sure to be a hit in the new year season.

The title has also spawned two additional projects.

Azuma is working on a novel adaptation called "Fractale/Reloaded." It will be serialized from the February issue of Da Vinci magazine, due out Jan. 6.

In addition, a manga based on the anime has been running in the "Gangan Online" web magazine operated by Square Enix Co. However, the TV series describes a world that is different from those in the manga and novel versions.
