The series will present an entire self-contained “episode” in every issue. The debut issue begins when the crew discovers a multi-planet construct of a dead civilization, which is run by a brilliant genetic scientist who's obsessed with repopulating it. When Captain Kirk discovers the scientist's secret, his creations revolt, forcing Kirk to make the hard decision to push the Enterprise into crossfire.
Star Trek: Year Four is written by David Tischman, who wrote IDW’s Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Space Between, and features artist Steve Conley, with his IDW debut.
“David Tischman has done an amazing job of capturing the feel for the original series,” declares Conley, whose cover art will all emulate the style presented by the ‘60s-era Gold Key Star Trek covers. “David's scripts call for some wonderful sequences and he clearly wasn't hampered by thoughts of production costs.”
Star Trek: Year Four (Diamond Order Code MAY07 3530) #1, the first full-color, 32-page issue of a six-issue miniseries, debuts in July 2007, and features both a cover by Conley and a variant cover Joe Corroney.
