When I saw that Tony Bedard had written this I wasn't sure what to expect, because his current run on Mystic has not impressed me. As with life though, a preconception could be holding you back from something that is going to bring you real enjoyment, so I took the plunge. Oh, believe me, I'm glad I did! This is a great concept. To defeat your enemy you must study him and that's exactly what the Negation has done, in a BIG way. The writing really draws you into the situation in which these characters are. The tension is evident and the status quo isn't a given here. The pacing is nice and we are given good character interaction.
Paul Pelletier and the rest of the art team really turn out great visuals each month. Everything flows nice and is easy to read. The book has a lot of effects due to the casts many different powers but we are given some dark moody work on the whole that fits in perfectly with the feel Tony Bedard has set up.
If you're bored of books where no one dies and space adventures are your thing, go out and make your day, buy this book. Hey, if you're not sure you can even check it out on CrossGens – Comics on the Web. You don't want to be saying BOHICA when you find out what you've missed do you!
Report Card – C (This wasn't a stunning issue but it was solid and you can see many things coming together)
