Well, what the hell can I say bout that! This issue had more swerve balls than…(well, if I knew anything bout baseball, I’d throw in a nifty little analogy here). David, even though obviously on acid makes all the jumping around seamless in there transition. There are a few nicely placed jokes that could be deemed as referencing what has come before on the book too. The conclusion, even though is somewhat of a JR Ewing moment. The reaction of Hulk, is what makes it all worth while. The last part though, I have no clue about.
At the beginning, I don’t know why, but for some reason the art isn’t clicking (for me). It’s not terrible and we get some nice moments. But it’s about halfway through, when we finally get the 411 (the 118 118, jus doesn’t have that same ring to it…..a UK thing) on what’s been happening, that everything falls into place art wise (for me). Its all bout the facial expressions, trust. And on the penultimate page, the ‘you’re kidding me’ look Hulk throws over his shoulder really sums up his nonchalant attitude. Oh, and you can’t not love that cover.
