Likeness
The action figure is a replica of the new Brother Blood’s costume. He even has folds cut from his cape fixed under the armpits. The skin colour of the new Brother Blood appears white in the comics as opposed to blue on the action figure. Brother Blood’s cape is shorter than in the comics. It should hang on the blood. Especially as his powers come from the cape.
Sculpt
Brother Blood has something on his head that looks like a turkey. It’s a type of head gear he uses as a crown. The original Brother Blood had a skull-like helmet. I like the facial sculpt. It’s detailed and shows the character’s conviction. His styling has regal qualitites. Each stripe is engraved. He looks like an aristocratic youth too with pompous demeanor.
Paint
The helmet has shading and that’s about it. A regular paint job suffices for the rest of the character’s body. There are small paint bleeds everywhere. Gold paint covers some of the character’s regal clothing. There’s some finish on some parts of the gear he wears.

Stability
This another DC Direct action figure with stability problems. Brother Blood’s heels don’t touch the ground completely, making stability a problem. What’s weird is that his body weight is well distributed on both leg and he his chest is not top heavy. Part of the problem is the cape, making the figure easily leans backward. Using the Teen Titans-styled action figure stand won’t help as the peg is too short and there’s only one peg hole on the figure’s feet. DC Direct should drill one hole per foot.
Articulation
Brother Blood has eleven articulations at the neck, the shoulders, the elbows, the wrists, the hips and the knees. The shoulders have ball-joints. It looks like Brother Blood has a ball joint neck, but he doesn’t.
Plastic
Brother Blood’s construction has soft plastic, similar to that used for the other Contemporary Teen Titans. That means watch out in the summer has it will fall often and its ankles will bend. His rubber cape is glued on the back of the figure and the front. The helmet is glued on the head. There are bolts on the elbows and the knees to hold the figure. Watch out as these are the transparent types that break easily when a figure falls.
Packaging
Like all Teen Titans action figures, Brother Blood comes on a card reused for each figure in his wave. Only a sticker on the card names the figure. The packages are slim and compact, making the Teen Titans some of the easiest packaged figures to store.

This figure costs about $12 in the US and $16 in Canada. Many store sell them for more. Depending on whether the store bought master cases or inner cases and the quantity ordered, they will get greater discounts.
Availability
This figure is easy to find. There were large orders of the Teen Titans action figures based on the cartoon’s popularity and the new series by DC Comics. Yet, Brother Blood is not a popular character. This version has only appeared recently in comics and looks very different from the original. Also, the sculpt doesn’t inspire the imagination. As this is not a must have figure for many fans, I expect Brother Blood to be a peg warmer.
