Chilean-born and Germany resident artist Patricia Waller is currently exhibiting original work at the Deschler Galerie in Berlin, Germany. Her work features popular comic books and cartoon characters meeting or about to meet terrible deaths by using their intrinsic powers or something wacky that they normally do. For example, Spider-man gets caught in web o his own. Superman gets splattered onto a wall by flying into it. Sponge Bob Square-pants plays the suicide bomber card. The exhibition called Broken Heroes features several crocheted characters, many that are life-size. Waller wanted to denounce something, I’m not exactly sure. But one thing for sure, these stuffed toys would make great decorations for many comic book collectors, which is probably not the kind of consumerism that Waller wants to promote.

The exhibition started on April 20, 2012 and will run until June 30 2012. But you have to be in Berlin, Germany to visit it.
