It's summer time and Tinker Bell journeys into the other world where she is supposed to stay for the whole season. But no sooner than when she arrives her curiosity takes over caution and she wanders too closely to a house where she is caught by a little girl. Luckily for her, this special little girl strongly believes in fairies and is quite happy to discover that she was right to believe in them. The two will soon become friends and Tinker will help Lizzy get the attention of her father who is constantly obsessed with scientific research. Needless to say that he never believed in fairies and that he never encouraged his daughter in her imaginary games where she invented stories about the fairy world. Meanwhile, all of of Tinker Bell's friends think she is in danger and they start organizing a daring rescue operation.

The tone of the story used for this third movie is quite different from what we have seen so far. Whereas the first two movies where about finding it's place in the world and epic journeys, this movie delivers a more personal story based on relationship and friendship. This is really not a bad thing since my 4-year-old daughter really can relate to Lizzy in a way she could not with the characters of the precious movies (except with Tinker Bell of course). However, the smaller scope of the story also make it less exciting to watch and I believe that my little girl will not watch this movie as many time as she did with the first and second one (which might be a good thing for a parent).

Where this movie really shines is with the animation. There was a huge leap of quality from the first movie to this one. The textures are better rendered and there is a fluidity that keeps increasing from movie to movie that I greatly appreciate. If you have the chance to watch this movie in Blu-Ray format (as I did) do so and you will be blown away by the quality of the product.

One of the few disappointments I have with this movie is the lack of really interesting bonus features. There are some but they never really captured the attention of my daughter the way some other DVD release did.

An overall great movie that will please most little girls, it's not as epic as the first two but it is still a great entertainment.

Dad's rating 7/10 (when is Toy Story 3's DVD coming out?)

4 years-old daughter's rating 10/10 (When is the next Tinker Bell coming out!?)
