DC Comics:

In an interview with ICv2, DC editor-in-chief and incumbent knuckle-head Dan DiDio revealed that the New 52's first line-wide crossover would be occurring in the latter half of 2013. The Free Comic Book Day issue from DC had teased a colossal crossover event, the Trinity War, though the publisher had disavowed such events at the onset of the company's reboot. I suppose a lot can change in two years.

Following the lead of Grant Morrison, Rob Liefeld says he'll also be calling a quits at DC to pursue creator-owned work. Liefeld, one of the original founders of Image Comics, currently writes and/or provides artwork for three DC books: Savage Hawkman, Deathstroke, and Grifter. All of which have been reduced to dreck since his involvement on them... Well, more drecky than they were previously. So, who cares? Not this guy.

Obstinately wondering where the Joker was in The Dark Knight Rises, even though director and writer Christopher Nolan had at numerous times denounced the use of the character after Heath Ledger's death? Well, you're probably the kind of person who'd enjoy a novelization of The Dark Knight Rises, and coincidentally you'll find some hints as to the Clown Prince of Crime's whereabouts in Greg Cox's adaptation. The book simply states that the Joker might be the last inmate at Arkham... or not. The fact is no one really knows where the hell the Joker is because it's of no consequence to The Dark Knight Rises.

Marvel Comics:

Captain America is getting an aesthetic overhaul for Marvel NOW!, and it's in keeping with the look of Cap in his last film outing. The new designs are by Jerome Opena and John Cassaday.

Todd McFarlane's original cover art to Amazing Spider-Man #328, featuring the Incredible Hulk and the eponymous web-slinger, sold at auction for a staggering and record-setting price of $657,250.

Film and Television:

Cap isn't the only one getting a makeover. The CW's Arrow, the television adaptation of DC's Green Arrow, is getting an addition to his costume. The character was seen in the pilot episode at San Diego Comic Con wearing only a hood to cover his face, but images have surfaced with the vigilante archer sporting eye makeup that looks like the mask Oliver Queen wears in the comic books.

With the sterling success of the rip-off The Hunger Games, the CW has jumped at the chance to develop Battle Royale for television. Negotiations for the rights of the Japanese property are ongoing, according to the LA Times.
