Web comics are not only available in English. One can find them in any language. Dutch cartoonist Sandra de Haan creates Web comics about slices of life on her own blog. Most of the stories are in Dutch, as is most of the Web site. But conscious that a lot of potential readers may miss out on some of her cool work, she has begun translating her Web comic strips in English.

Her work is fully matured and I would say ready to collected and printed as a book. I find her style very original and a refresher in the world of comic book. It’s light, colourful and easy to follow. If you’re looking for something new to read online, pay her blog a visit.

Haan she studied illustration at the Rotterdam art school until 1992. She says that she "switched to comics in 2002 because illustration was becoming a bit too limiting: illustrators only work with other people's ideas. I like storytelling more than just making pretty pictures, so comics is my main thing these days." Haan is 39 and the editor of a Rotterdam-based magazine on comics, art, film, books and music which can be seen at www.zone5300.nl
