A new story arc launches, as Batman brings tidings of the end of the world. As he and Superman look into the purpose of the Infinity Corporation, other members are at the U.N. to address the delegates on the aftermath of their previous crisis.

But time is fluid in so many ways, and elements of history begin spilling into the present, while a mysterious woman appears to recruit the JLA for a mission to save existence. Is she crazy? Well, she knows about the Crisis and Flashpoint, so clearly she has an awareness most residents of the DC Universe do not. It’s a good launch; simple, streamlined and it left me looking for more.

My only issue is the usual conceit of big-time super-heroes, like Superman. “If the past was changed, wouldn’t we know about it?” No, dumb ass! If the past changes, it alters everything about the present – everything! Including your own awareness. You can’t very well ask, “What happened to that thing that never existed?”

But the artwork is good. Pasarin and Ryan make a lot of ambitious rendering look pretty darn easy: the 31st century, the father of Zeus devouring his children, destruction in the 26th century.

This is one of those comics for which I would definitely stick around.
