Friday’s “Cup O' Joe” panel with Marvel Editor In Chief Joe Quesada is always a popular destination for attendees at the San Diego Comic Con, if not for its groundbreaking announcements, then at least for its entertainment value. Quesada dedicated most of the panel to questions from the audience, and fielded them with a sense of humour that kept the crowd so entertained they barely noticed that that most of his answers somehow related to Marvel beating DC at softball. Still, the panel did include some announcements that did not involve the sports.

· Artist Phil Jiminez has signed an exclusive contract with Marvel

· Marvel’s deal with Top Cow has been extended

· Chesterquest, a world talent search orchestrated by Marvel staffer and jack of all trades C.B. Cebulski, will be looking for 12 pencillers to work at Marvel. Winners of the search will be announced at the 2008 New York Comic Convention

· Writer Terry Moore and artist Humberto Ramos will be taking over Runaways

· An Eternals monthly book will be launched with the writing team of Charlie and Daniel Knauf.

In addition, C.B. Cebulski had some valuable advice for aspiring comic book artists and writers. “Remember the 4 ps,” Cebulski stated, “Be patient, be persistent, don’t pester, and don’t be a prick”. And it wouldn’t hurt to be good at softball.
