The neighbourhood’s got a new protector. He’s bigger, strong and faster than Spider-man and, even worse…he’s hogging the front page of the Daily Bugle! What’s everyone’s favourite wall-crawler to do?

Reggie really tells an entertainment story here. The Absorbing Man situation is great and the twist is ingenious, makes you wonder why no ones done it before. Like last issue though, what steals the show is the situation with Ethan. Reggie is really playing up certain angels and does it in a way that makes you smile and say to yourself, he’s absolutely right. What Spidey does to test him makes perfect sense. And then we’re hit with the big revelation at the end, which definitely has me coming back next month.

Tan seems to be something of an enigma. The opening page has a pretty good shot of Creel, but then the unknown assassin doesn’t look on point at all. The same can be said about the first time we see Peter. But then, after that page, Pete really looks good. Tan also, once again does the perfect reflection of Ethan. And our guest stars this issue, look fantastic. Like last issue, when we refer back to Ethan’s past, Mark Buckingham takes over the pencils and does a superb job.
