Ever since the first volume (Mary Jane: Circle Of Friends) ended, cats have been anxiously waiting (well I have and my word is universal law, don’t ya know lol) to find out what would happen next. Would Liz jump to conclusions, would Mary find happiness with Harry!!! Well, lucky sales would good and now we get to find out!
In this mini everything’s leading to Homecoming (you may have guessed from the title). So we don’t just get the answers to all the questions that have been jumping around in our heads, but there are a whole heap of new situations that come up. Don’t be worried though, as the story never becomes convoluted or drags. Yet again McKeever has crafted a story that is simplistic in nature, but has a wealth of depth. You don’t just read it, you feel it, every frown, heart wrench and smile.
An integral part of a stories impact, is the accompanying art work. McKeever hits the writing out the park and Takeshi Miyazawa ties with his very own home run (pretty snazzy use of an analogy, eh). Like in the first mini, the panels are spacious, have a nice layout and are easy to follow. Miyazawa’s pencils are uncomplicated, but carry so much emotional weight. And this is immediately evident from the covers. Add to all this the great job Christina Strain did with the colours, you’ve got a virtually perfect game.
