Green Lantern Corps # 5

A ring-less Guy Gardner tries to elude Bolphunga, an alien bounty-hunter while other new Lanterns deal with a series of conflicts: a struggle between love and duty, rejection by their own people and strife between Lanterns. This is largely a transitional issue that helps the readers to get to know the new Lanterns better rather than dealing with any major plotline. Some of the new Lanterns are more interesting than others but there is yet no sign of a breakout character who is going to grab the hearts of the readers. Maybe in future issues, one character will really shine, like Arisia, Kilowog or Katma Tui once did. But so far, the new crop of Lanterns are merely engaging but not engrossing. Gibbon's art is inconsistent. The scenes with Gardner look too posed and stiff but the space battles and inter-stellar travel scenes are powerful and the dramatic scenes are moving.
