Giffen and Dematteis continue doing what they do best as team. They dig up the continuity and history of characters and mesh them in a new story where the threat, although dangerous, is treated casually. Namor and Doctor Strange are once against involved in a philosophical debate before deciding what to do next. This issue as previous ones plays on all classic super team clichés while reinventing them.
Maguire draws well, and his specialty are facial expressions. Yet, there are details that are inserted everywhere such as the bitten nails on the Hulk’s fingers, Urma’s messy hair, after her involvement with Hulk, how Namor binds his toes when he flies, how the Silver Surfer’s feet and those of the teens on the beach’ have feet lightly dug in sand. This is the type of artwork that I like to see in a comic book.
