MARVEL
COVERS: James H. Williams
WRITER: Christopher Priest
PENCILER: Joe Bennett
INKS: Danny Miki

The Crew is about three guys initially (soon to become four) bound together out of self-interest who become inspired to a higher cause in defending the residents of a dangerous no-man's land. How do they come together though and why would they put their own goals aside…..or have they!?! This isn’t the black avengers, this isn’t a black book. This is about personal & moral conflict and strong characterisation. Now who you rolling with!?!

Every time I read a new issue of this book I’m just left amazed! The chess game he plays is just so compelling you can’t blink or you could miss that slight change of tone, the posturing, that little hint that something isn’t how it seems. Things are drawing to a conclusion, but where does everyone stand. You think Josiah is good but then we get clues that he could be taking bribes. So where does he stand……….turn the page and be immersed in pure brilliance!

When I look at Bennett’s work I’m always left feeling real happy. His teaming with Priest is brilliance: he can take what is said and turn it into the perfect imagery. His grasp of action is so on point: the way he can show Kasper leaping around gives you the perfect notion of his movements and skill. You just have to look at Danny and you know he’s a cocky son of a bitch. You can see Josiah is torn with inner conflict. Bennett’s helps pump this book up to 200%, if you don’t believe me, take a look!
