***image1**It’s one year later and the Birds of Prey continue to stop criminals by going online and researching and hunting them on the mean streets. Oracle staff is still composed of the Huntress and pilot Lady Black Hawk. However, there’s a new Canary for martial art kicks. Meanwhile, the real Black Canary is undergoing training, or torture if you will, by choice to better her martial arts training, it would seem.
Usually one is never certain about the future of a Birds of Prey story arc. This time, it feels as if I know how it will all play out. Black Canary will succeed in her training and come out stronger. She will return to Gotham or Metropolis or whatever the city is, to confront the fake Canary. Oracle will gather the information from the Society of Super Villains’ turncoat to send the Birds on some other mission that will all tie into some other story arc later down the line. I’m tired, and I wish I could be more excited.
Since Ed Benes has come on this series, the editors have settled on his characters’ designs for all other artists since. This is a good move as no matter who draws what, we can still recognize the characters. I wish more editors did this. It does improve the quality of the series. Oracle always has the same set of glasses and hair length. Canary, always has her toupee. The inking of this issue, however, could be cleaner.
