Book Description

Bambi's on the road yet again "cause she's still got to deliver the strange little kid by her side to the "Old Man." This time, she's got smoking slobs, nasty truckers and plenty of other weirdos hot on her tail, and the reward for her capture happens to be the sweetest bounty in the land. The race is on to blaze a desert trail straight to the elusive jackpot...her! But Bambi's a girl best left alone and she's not about to go down without a dirty, dirty fight.

This is BAMBI's turf. Set against the corrupt wastelands of the big city and the darkest plains, Bambi and her Pink Gun is an epic head trip, a punk manifesto and a shoot-up whenever Bambi takes aim. Watch your back... and hang on for your life!

Story and Content

Volume #2 start's with a group of gangster's taking over an old west style town, with them is Pampi, a child that our Heroine Bambi is trying to get back. Everyone is after a bounty that's been put on Pampi's head, which poses a serious problem for Bambi as she desperately tries to get Pampi back to the "Old Man". Throughout Volume #2, Bambi will have to deal with Gangster's, a crazy guy in a bear suit, truckers and an old ass wrestler.

Bambi and Her Pink Gun is an unusual Manga, from story, art and presentation. A great thing I noticed about Bambi was that it's centered around action, but unlike many Manga where that's the case, Bambi is still able to tell a story, and do it well. On the art side, Bambi looks and feel's slightly different then what were use to. One thing you'll notice right off the bat is that the book is printed in different colors. It starts off a dark blue, then goes to black, then to red and then a mixture. It's weird, but in a good way. The only gripe I had with this is that I wasn't able to see the action as well with the red printing, but this may just be a personal thing.

The Character of Bambi is very interesting, and in my opinion, one of the main reason you'll be picking up future volumes, it's obvious right off the bat that something is affecting her from her past, she's alway's pissed off. As the story progresses, i'm sure the character will develop, revealing these things.

I like the Manga's take on sex and violence, with so many other cases where a Manga goes way over the top just for the sake of going over the top, Bambi is alittle more restrained, let me explain. Their are some very violent moment's in Bambi, but nothing's to over the top and these sequences are few and far between. The good thing about this is that it create's a mood, where when something crazy does happen, like a guy's head exploding, it has more of a impact on you, it create's one of those "Oh @&%#" moments.

Art

Other then the before mentioned printing, the art itself seems different then what were use to, it's hard to pin point exactly what it is though. Character designs and background's are detailed, while at the same time being simplistic. The many action sequences are fantastically done, chaos being superbly detailed, from flying debre to head's exploding.

Conclusion

Bambi and Her Pink Gun: Vol #2 was a great read for a lot of reasons, the artistic presentation, the story, the violence. The great thing about Bambi was that it was different, which is what people always want, but not mearly that, it was good, really good. I highly recommend this to anyone who's interested in Action. I'm certainly looking forward to volume 3.
