It
took us some time, and quite a bit of searching around from store to
store, but we finally have confirmation that the new HDMI-equipped
Xbox 360 Premiums have made it to Canada. We have searched and called
numerous stores in the Greater Toronto Area in the past couple of
weeks to see if they were carrying them, but the answer kept coming
back with a no. Last week, however, we did have an unconfirmed “yes”
from a Walmart clerk, but we were unable to see the unit or box for
ourselves because they had sold out (Walmart was selling the Xbox 360
Premium at the American price last week). Thusly, we could not
confirm it.
Finally,
yesterday, we found a Toys'R'Us that had Xbox 360 Premiums in stock,
and were able to confirm that the systems did, in fact, come equipped
with the HDMI port. The fact that we do have confirmation that the
new units are now available in Canada does not guarantee that the
first Xbox 360 Premium unit you pick up will be one though, as not
all retailers have them readily available on their shelves or in
stock yet. You will need to check the side of the box to find out if
the system is equipped with the port. Thankfully, that is quite easy
to do, as the words “HDMI port” are clearly labeled on the side
of the new packaging, in Xbox 360 Console Specifications section.
