Wonder Woman #13
DC Comics
Writer: J. Torres
Penciller: Julian Lopez
Inker: Bit

LET'S GET READY TO LOOK SO GOOD
A new era begins for Wonder Woman, full of copious cleavage, arms akimbo, and Brazilian waxes. The Amazon Attack is over, the department of Metahuman Affairs looks to clamp down on superhumans, and a group of protestors yells at Wonder Girl. I wonder, pained, why DC cancelled Batgirl, but has more flying blonde bimbos than catapult day at the Playboy Mansion.

Writer J. Torres pens a heartfelt story of mother-daughter relationships and the will to rebuild broken relationships and broken countries. He also gives the Amazons Attack storyline the emotional closure I guess it needed…I wouldn’t know, because Amazons Attack seemed as lousy an idea as another Fantastic Four re-launch. Still, he manages to chip some genuinely meaningful moments out of a disastrous idea.

Penciller Julian Lopez makes Wonder Woman look svelte and stunning. That’s the problem. Wonder Woman shouldn't look like an Ingres nude. If DC really wants this character taken seriously, they need to find an artist with a less appealing style. Keep those Michael Turners and Jim Lees at bay, and find someone who can evoke Wonder Woman's martial qualities, rather than that sorrority girl chic. Of course, it’s hard not to evoke sorostitute spring break when you parade around in stars-and-stripes underpants, but still…hope springs eternal.

Worth the money? If you really, really like Wonder Woman, or actually followed Amazons Attack, sure. Everybody else, save your cash for that glorious day I can watch the Girls Next Door fired into the stratosphere for ten bucks a piece.
