Not much impressed me about this issue. I feel so let down by this book. Dan Abnett can be a really good writer, I like so much of his work. What went wrong here?
Was it forces beyond his control? Losing Nightwing has left the team rudderless, and the way Wally West’s death has been ignored has been appalling. Roy Harper’s death was acknowledged, but together these are a big loss to deal with.
Bringing Green Lantern on to the team was a terrible idea. This now has the fake flavour that the Zero Hour line-up had.
With all that dragging the issue down, the heroes had to battle not only a resurgent Cult of Blood, but a very displeased reviewer. I feel so betrayed by this book that it is exceptionally difficult to engage with it.
I will admit that the last page perked me up. It was a surprising development, which I am looking forward to having explained.
But since I have discovered that this book is being cancelled, it seems apparent to me that the problems I am finding in this series are being felt by others as well.
Titans Hunt was great. This book started off like wildfire, and felt like it was going to be a really important series in the DC canon. That all got tossed, and too many characters were dumped. The second try, with the team as an adjunct to the League, had potential, and I was more than willing to give it a try. But it’s crumbled before my eyes as well.
Such a shame. Read Teen Titans. Pick up Young Justice. But unless you are a completist, and already reading it, best to give this a pass.
