Trinity #21 Review

James Robinson continues to have fun in the latest issue of Trinity, and Patch Zircher and Tyler Kirkham make it all look wonderful. The story continues the Hunt for Steve Trevor, following the adventure Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman had in Skartaris.

While the previous issue had the three heroes all operating on their own, this one brings them back together. It’s a well crafted tale, and I like the way Robinson opens the story with snatches of dialogue we overhear as the trinity of heroes talk with Travis Morgan, his daughter Jennifer, and friend Machiste. The scene returns later in the issue, and we hear expanded versions of the conversations.

That helps the issue, which otherwise plays out largely by the numbers. Yes, there are a couple of surprises along the way, but the whole Skartaris story has been building towards a big confrontation between Deimos and the three heroes, and so it’s no shock when this finally comes about.

Robinson also devotes some time to conveying the very different views the heroes have of the way they have been dealt with by Travis Morgan and his people. Nothing very startling, but it’s always nice to see the trinity defined in the differences between them.

A fun outing, particularly for fans of Warlord, and a great cliffhanger that makes me excited for the next issue.
