The Terrifics #10 Review

Tom Strong and crew are still around for the latest issue of The Terrifics, but by the end of the tale its questionable if anyone will be around for the next issue.

Viktor Bogdanovic steps in to do the art on this issue, and does a commendable job. The story picks up from the conclusion of the last issue, with Java revealed as Doc Dread, the enemy behind all the recent troubles for the team. But there is another villain in the offing, who proves even more of a challenge for the team.

But in the end, it appears that the greatest challenge the Terrifics are facing is just staying together. The forced bond between them is gone, Metamorpho no longer has his powers, and there is no driving reason left for these four people to remain together.

The story serves as a very good conclusion to the first run of issues, and really leaves things hanging. What will be the motivation that brings them all back together? You know there will have to be one, the book is selling too well to just end it.

Curiously, this means that instead of me being sad that the team has fractured, I am actually excited to see where Lemire will take the story in the next few issues.

Perhaps this issue isn’t quite as crazy as some that have come before. I admit it is not my favourite issue of the run to date. But it functions as it is meant to, and certainly makes one eager to see what happens next.
