Although the cover of The Terrifics #7 makes it look like the team work with Tom Strong in this issue, in fact this is a bit more like two different stories. The first half of the book is devoted to Tom Strong, and the second half to the Terrifics.

Eaglesham and Lemire do an excellent job with the Tom Strong half. Well, with both halves come to think of it, but the Tom Strong part does feel very much like his own book back in the day. Pneuman and Tesla are there to help, and Saveen is the villain Tom is facing, so it all feels like familiar territory, and looks right.

The second half takes an interesting turn, with Rex Mason no longer Metamorpho, but still stuck needing to be in proximity of the rest of the team. Simon Stagg is given a good role, sowing the discontent he does so well, and this leads to a nice bit for Mr Terrific, theorizing that Stagg is actually behind most of the problems that the team has been facing.

As the issue ends the plot finally brings the team into contact with Tom Strong. I never really care for it when a cover proclaims a team-up, but the story avoids it until the conclusion. I always feel a bit ripped off.

But that is really the only complaint I have of the issue, and the Tom Strong part was so well done that I am in a forgiving mood.
