Well, I’m surprised to admit it, but I actually preferred the resolution to the Katana storyline over that of Suicide Squad Black. Both are good endings, don’t get me wrong, but there was a bit more complexity and deviousness to the Katana finale.

In fact, aside from some weird romance with the Gentleman Ghost, the Suicide Squad Black ending is pretty much a series of fight scenes, with little of the twistiness that had come in earlier instalments. Honestly, if it wasn’t paired with the Katana story, I don’t think I would have had anything negative to say about it. But putting both in the same book makes a comparison inevitable.

And the Katana story not only allows us to see Kobra losing his cool, which is always fun, but also gives us an emotional reunion between the heroine and her dead husband, as well as a nice twist at the end using Halo. It sets up Katana to be a far more interesting character going forward.

The Enchantress fares better than anyone else, though, getting very good scenes in both of the stories. Now could we get a clear explanation on how she came back to life?

Suicide Squad Black Files was definitely a notch above the Most Wanted miniseries. And it left me really longing for Suicide Squad Black to return.
