"Multiplicity" continues in Superman #15 as Supermen from across the 52 known Universes team up to draw out the mastermind behind the nefarious kidnappings of several of the Multiverse's Supermen.

I'm not a big fan of multiple Earth Superman stories. While it's cool to see what different Supermen could possibly exist, as envisioned by different writers and artists (and there are quite a few different artists working on this issue of Superman), I'm old fashioned in the sense that I loved the Post-Crisis/John Byrne Superman because he was truly one of a kind (in reality and in his fictional universe as it existed). It's just too tempting to tell tales of Supermen of other universes though, so DC Comics has brought them back. As long as their stories are handled well, and not overused, and the original Post-Crisis Superman takes the heroic lead, then I can handle it. All of these things happen in Superman #15, and have also thus far in the two opening chapters of "Multiplicity" from Tomasi and Gleason, so all's well for now.

A rather large cast is assembled in Superman #15, and fittingly a large cast of artists come together to bring this issue's events to life. Each artists' different style helps create the sense of multiple parallel worlds being visited, but all the artists adhere to a common look and feel of the characters therefore creating a visual continuity. We're viewing the same characters through the lens of different artists, yet never failing to recognize them as the visuals change. It's a nice touch that works well in this Multiple Earth spanning issue, but would be jarring anywhere else. I'm sure it also helped keep the title publishing schedule this month as well as each artist only had to contribute a few pages of work.

Superman continues to be a great read. I am concerned though as rumors of the return of the New 52 Superman, which have recently been confirmed, are troubling. If Post-Crisis Superman goes away again, I'm most likely done with the Superman Family of titles...again.
