Oscar winning director Sam Mendes is set to direct the cinematic version of 'Preacher', by Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon.

Mendes, is by no means a stranger to the medium of graphic novels (he directed The Road To Perdition) has a history of being drawn to multi-layered characters and story lines. And from what I have heard from many comic book reading friends; 'Preacher' fits the bill exactly.

I think that it is time to read this (I know, I know..what took me so long?), by all accounts entertaining, controversial, thought provoking and darkly humorous work.

At the time of writing, there were no actors attached to the project. But that can only be a matter of time.

Jason Netter (Wanted ) along with Neal Moritz (I Am Legend ) are producing 'preacher' for Columbia Pictures.

'Preacher' is currently slated for release sometime during 2011.
