This issue had a really nice flow to it. The characters are still evolving and the character interaction was really interesting, fun and natural. At first I thought Rahne was acting a bit strange, seeing that she is older than the other kids. But then it all becomes clear and it was a logical, psychological view point. It was also fun to see Emma playing her chess game with the kids and we find out if David, Sofia, Laurie and Josh can conduct electricity. Some characters are forced to look into themselves and, well, what an ending!
I think the cover sets the tone perfectly for the book. It has a rebellious, intense feel to it and with the cross a prominent feature on her neck, you can see the inner conflict in the religion and character coming through. With a slightly harder edge to the book this issue, the interior art stumbles sometimes in portraying the emotion that is specified, as the facial expressions seem either one way or the other. I thought that Emma’s office though, was perfectly captured with her spirit. With the modern décor and Andy Warhol type portrait.
