This
Canada Day is going to be an interesting one for the residents of
Oromocto, New Brunswick. Corporal Robert Dehmel, 24, of the Canadian
Armed Forces entered a nationwide contest on Xbox.ca to win a Canada
Day party from Xbox Canada in his home town, in which entrants were
asked to tell Xbox Canada why the company should come to their town
and throw a Canada Day bash. Entrants also had to submit a photo that
showed why they are proud to be Canadian.
Well,
Dehmel's entry, linked here,
stood out above the rest, detailing the huge percentage of Oromocto
residents that are serving the the armed forces – 90% according to
his count – and how the town is bursting with Canadian pride. The
photo he submitted was one taken of him reaching the top of one of
the tallest mountain peaks in Afghanistan, Canadian flag in hand.

As
the winning entrant, Dehmel receives an Xbox Canada Day party in
Oromocto, a one-of-a-kind Xbox 360 Faceplate, hand painted by an
artist from British Columbia, a one year Xbox Live Gold subscription,
plus $300 spending money. In addition to Dehmel and his friends, Xbox
Canada say it is throwing open the doors, inviting gamers from across
the Fredericton area to join them for this unique Canada Day
celebration.
