Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Space Adventure

Mickey Mouse invites children watching from home to aid him and the members of his clubhouse – Donald Duck, Goofy, Daisy, Minnie and Pluto – on an adventure in space where they will hunt for stars that will show them a secret hidden on a mysterious planet. But Pete the space pirate is watching and is trying to steal the map for himself so that he can find the treasure. It’s up to the kids from home to help Mickey Mouse in this galactic escapade.

This DVD package, which include a digital copy, is geared towards kids aged two to five years-old and is meant to teach them basic reasoning and observation skills as well as cool cartoon physics. Kids are prompted by Mickey Mouse to answer a series of question and to participate in his quest. The assignments are very simple and are spaced with just enough time to let kids participate. The way the cartoons are designed allows easy stop and go between chapters, in case your little one is not focusing on the monitor at all times. Incredibly, this is a full cartoon show and not an interactive game.

A new episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is also featured as the second story where Clarabelle Cow invites Mickey Mouse’s clubhouse gang to play in a treasure hunt. This episode, like the first one features cameos by chipmunks Chip and Dale and Professor Von Drake. The animation is all 3D and decent, although some of the walk cycles for Minnie and Daisy looked weird. Although not a kid – well that’s a surprise – I did like the “hotdog” song. It’s one of those as an adult that will haunt you for hours and more, if your little ones decide to replay the disc over and over again – as they are prone to do. But each character dances to the hotdog song differently and it’s fun to watch.

This is a great last minute gift for kids that will easily introduce them to the world of Mickey Mouse and cool characters like Donald Duck.
