Justice League #1

The Justice League is back on the scene in a big way. All over the planet bad stuff is happening and they are there doing their part to save as many people from disaster as possible. All the big names are back Wonder Woman, Green Lantern(s), Cyborg, Flash, Batman, Aquaman and Superman. Each one is doing their thing. Flash is flashing. Wonder Woman is fighting a war. Green Lantern is protecting a city. Suddenly something happens where some of the team can't access their powers any more. What to do?

The art work in this title is top notch. We are seeing the classic team rendered in high quality and the action is on point. I mean we've all seen Armageddon like dozens of times. This is what you've come to expect from the end of the world where it involves super heroes. Building are falling down, earthquakes, war and tidal waves. Tony Daniel gives us the best possible view of the worst case scenario and I thank him for that. He bailed on Cyborg in the subway but he makes up for it with Wonder Woman and the Flash so no harm done.

Now we need to ask writer Bryan Hitch why is the world ending again? Is it going to be worth it this time? Are we going to learn something meaningful to our lives at the end? At this point one issue in we have no idea. The story here contains only the slightest clues as to what may be happening. I guess if we really care we'll need to check out issue 2. The offering here is considerably more barren than what we where offered in issue 1 of Green Lanterns but that is a problem with a large cast of characters like we have here. Right now we only know the who and the what, we'll need at least another issue before we know if we care about the why.

Based on the art alone I'll give the book a 6 out of 10. If the book goes anywhere after the second issue I'll be willing to change my score. I'll call this a wait and see title for now.
