Justice League #15 Review

Tynion IV and Snyder wind up the Thanagarian plot line in the latest issue. The Martian Manhunter finds out the truth about New Thanagar, and Starman finds a purpose.

So yeah, a lot happens in this one, and I didn’t even mention the real core of the tale.

I know I keep saying this in review after review, but I am consistently impressed with the way this latest incarnation of the League is turning out. The book has its overall direction, with the shattering of the Source Wall, but neatly works in other plot threads as it all advances.

The conflict between Hawkgirl and Hawkwoman comes to a head in this one. Shayera Thal is essentially in the position of the villain in this tale, but the writers work hard to make it a more grey situation. Shayera is acting in the genuine best interests of the survivors of her world, and her actions are desperate, but understandable.

This issue also performs some tidy continuity editing, making Hawkgirl and Hawkwoman completely distinct characters by the end of the story, instead of both being part of the eternal circle of Hawk- resurrections.

Cheung, Segovia, and Morales handle the large cast in this issue extremely well. Not only are they illustrating the League, but also the Thagarians and Green Lantern Corps. Yet all characters are distinct, the action is clear and effective, and there is plenty of emotion and interesting visuals.

Another top drawer issue. If you aren’t reading this, you should be.
