The Zombie Apocalypse is upon us – assuming you live in Coney Island, that is. With her building surrounded by mindless hordes, Harley must lead her team to safety. Meanwhile, her new friend Redtool® is recuperating at a local hospital. Having his arm severed to avoid zombification, he is fortunate to have another attached in its place. There’s a great joke during that scene, if you pay attention. Or, even if you don’t.

Harley Quinn is a lighthearted romp, full of satire and whimsy. Humor might be overstating it, but everyone’s sensibilities are different, so your mileage may vary. I found the arm re-attachment sequence funny. Also joining her in this issue is perennial pal Poison Ivy. Mind the shower sequence. It can be treacherous if you’re not prepared for it.

I’m enjoying this series more than I expected. Harley brand of mental illness hijinks can wear thin, kind of like an SNL sketch that goes on too long (and almost never do they translate well to the big screen). I was concerned that a Harley ongoing might fall into the same trap. If Connor and Palmiotti continue to keep to shorter story arcs, I think the series will do okay.

I’m loving the artwork. It has that dynamic style is used to see by Dick Giordano or Jose Luis Garcia Lopez. I’d like to see more of that throughout the DC Universe as a whole.
