Green Arrow is person non grata, surrounded by a mob of angry football fans at Queen Industries Field. Not because the home team lost, but because he seemingly has killed the team’s MVP. This accusation only exacerbates his standing with the local police, who are beginning to regard him, like Robin Hood of old, as an outlaw. GA has a clear handle on the true culprit – his old friend Tommy Merlyn. But he’s in for a surprise when it turns out to be someone else.

In more ways than one, this series is slowly migrating to reflect the TV series Arrow more and more. Some purists might take issue with that, feeling the source material should lead and adaptations in other media should follow. But ever since Sherlock Holmes first appeared on film, other media have added to various canons. And not everything other media has offered has been entirely without merit. And in the case of Green Arrow, I speculate that the strategy is help bring the comic book and the TV show closer together, in the interest of building on the fan bases of both.

The entire story takes place in a surprisingly brief amount of time. I am always saying that a story should take as a long as it takes to tell, whether events unfold in a brief manner or extended, free from padding. That’s what we have here, even though it encompasses only a few minutes. It’s safe to suggest it almost unfolds in real time.

The art team of Carlini, Rodriguez and Vazques appear to have done their homework in trying emulate the work of other artists on the book – Schmidt, Ferreyra, et al. That’s not a bad thing, trying to maintain a consistent look. I once believed all comics to be drawn in a house style, like the Harvey and Archie comics. Within a family of books, I feel it’s a sound strategy, or to have a team of artists that will keep a book on schedule. Save super-stars like Neal Adams and Jim Lee for special projects.
